For my Students

Students,

I am so thankful to have said yes when Mrs. Rena approached me about teaching the photography class for KCA this year! To be honest, I was a bit nervous about the under taking. But now, WOW! What an inspiring journey! You guys have been so great! With each passing moment I have loved getting to know each and everyone of you! Just watching you grow in your love for photography, expanding your artistic horizon and witnessing you build this new confidence in the art was so exciting for me to take part in. I feel truly honored. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your creative world, it's been an awesome trip!

Now....be watching! I will be posting some of my fav's of your last assignments! I've already been checking them out and I know it's going to be hard but I will only choose two. Hope you guys have an awesome summer and keep snapping, because I'll be watching and loving every minute of it. I can't wait to see what the future brings out in all my photo bugs!

A few more tips on Landscapes/nature shots

1.Make the Effort!
Have you ever saw a sunset that you wanted to get a shot of only to try to get it by pulling up off the side of the road to take a few hand-held snaps of the scene, before driving off again. Remember- it's all about composition! Get out of your car, walk around and check out different perspectives.

2. Remember the golden hours! -
Follow the Light -Make the most of your light. Shoot at the right time of day. Early morning sunrises and late evening sunsets - you will have softer, colorful light with longer shadows. This is a good thing.

3. Depth of Field-
You want everything in focus so remember to use your depth of field.
For best results, use a narrow aperture of around f/16 or f/22.

4 Use your rule of thirds-this will give your landscape shot a good balance.

5. Don't be afraid to use your manual focus. You'll be surprised at the difference it makes.

Most of you have turned in all your assignments but I am still waiting on a few more pic's. Be sure to get them in ASAP. Each week they are delayed, grade points are deducted. I will also have them down as Incomplete until I get them. To save time and points, you can post them on your blog and then message me and let me know. If you're having difficulty with anything, please let me know so I can partner you up with someone to help you along.
